Location
Whilst only 5 minutes from the capital Palma, the Maricel is in a quiet location and adopts a serene ambience throughout. The hotel enjoys direct sea access from a bathing platform just beyond the swimming pool area and has beautiful views across the bay of Palma. It is only a short car journey to exclusive Puerto Portals marina where you will find upmarket restaurants, champagne bars, cafes and boutiques side by side all overlooking the Marina filled to the brim with immaculate motor yachts.
About the Maricel
The reception area of the hotel is spacious and open plan leading to the lounge areas and bar that in turn lead out to a magnificent terrace, perfect for early morning coffee or evening drinks.
The restaurant is situated downstairs from the reception where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in high season and again enjoying wonderful views out across the mediterranean.
The infinity pool is perfectly situated for sunbathing whilst benefitting from a gratefully received sea breeze during the Summer months with a pool bar providing refreshments whilst lounging. The hotel pool bar plays host to full moon parties for guests during May, June and July.
The Maricel hotel facilities include a Spa with an indoor to outdoor pool, indoor treatment rooms and outdoor treatment areas that are located in the arches underneath the main palace building just above sea level, the sound of the sea lapping against the rocks add an additional relaxing tempo to any treatment.
The hotel benefits from guest parking, please ask us for more details about securing parking during your stay.
Children over 12 are welcome at the hotel.
The Annexe building
The annexe building is across the road from the main building and as mentioned before is accessed from a superbly designed underground natural stone walkway with climbing bougainvillea. The annexe is in fact two buildings housing the hotel Spa, conferencing facilities, guest rooms, large lounge area, gardens and underground guest parking facilities.
The annexe has been beautifully designed by the Hospes group architects with a stunning reception lounge on the ground floor and fantastic conference facilities.
The whole space has a tranquil ambience and we personally preferred the rooms in the annexe as they were a little more modern, This is entirely down to personal taste however and you may prefer to be on the site of the main building with the restaurant and bar, pool and sea access a little closer.
Rooms
The hotel has 51 rooms, 29 of which are situated in the main palace building and are a mix of Deluxe Sea View Rooms, 4 of which have a balcony to the front of the hotel and Mountain View rooms and Suites. All of the rooms are a good size with spacious en suite bathrooms and have a modern décor in neutral and white tones. All 22 rooms in the annexe building have a balcony with a plunge pool and benefit from sea views from your bed, bath and/or shower. The deluxe double rooms benefit from a small lounge area and sun loungers on the balcony.
TIP: The rooms in the left hand side of the annexe facing the sea do enjoy slightly better sea views. Some of the small rooms in the annexe do not have a bath tub or seating on the balcony.
The Spa
There is a small gym in the Spa building, due to be extended in 2014. The spa also has a Sauna, Steam Room, Jacuzzi, indoor to outdoor heated pool with disabled access to the pool and sun loungers around the pool in the small garden area.
The treatment rooms are well equipped and there is a couples treatment room that has a water bed treatment bed. The spa also has a relaxation lounge with complimentary drinks for guests. The spa products are Cinque Mondes and are used exclusively on the island in the Maricel Spa, a range of relaxation and beauty treaments are available and appointments can be made in advance of your stay to secure the times that suit you best.
The Maricel Hotel and Spa would suit anyone who wants a relaxed atmosphere and likes being close to the sea but also wants to make the most of all Mallorca has to offer being close to Palma, great beaches, golf courses, Puerto Portals and fantastic restaurants if you like to go out in the evening. A stay at the Maricel means that you can enjoy quiet days around the pool, great days out at the many beaches close by but offers a great base from which to explore. You can enjoy a morning at the market in Palma and then on to the exclusive boutiques and be back at the pool in the afternoon. Alternatively, you can stay at the hotel and enjoy all it has to offer.
